I’ve been quietly reading through this forum for a few days now trying to figure out whether I’m overreacting or whether I actually need to get my car looked at, and I think I’ve finally accepted that something isn’t right. My 2015 A4 has done about 120,000 kilometres and over the last couple of months the gearbox has started behaving in ways I don’t like. It’s not dramatic, no warning lights or limp mode, just a slight hesitation when I pull away from a stop that wasn’t there before, and occasionally a faint shudder at low speeds that comes and goes depending on the day. I took it to two general garages and both just scanned it, found nothing, and told me to come back when something actually breaks, which is the least helpful advice I’ve ever received. I know these gearboxes can show symptoms long before they throw a fault code, and by the time the warning light appears you’re often looking at a much bigger bill than if you’d caught it early. So I’ve been looking around for a proper specialist and I keep coming back to a site that seems to focus on these cars. Has anyone actually used them or heard anything genuine about them? What I really want to know is whether they diagnose properly rather than just guessing, whether the price they quote is the price you pay, and whether the work actually lasts or the problem comes back a few months later. I’d also like to know if they take the time to explain things in plain language, because I’m not great with the technical side and I don’t want to nod along and hand over my card without understanding what I’m paying for. Any honest experience, good or bad, would be massively appreciated because I’m stressed about this and I don’t want to make an expensive mistake.
